When you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go. But while a trip to the bathroom is a rather straight-forward experience for most people, it can be a difficult and even dangerous experience for members of the trans community.

According to a report published by the Transgender Law Center in the US, transgender people have been refused access to the appropriate facilities at their place of work or school, while others have been attacked in public bathrooms.

The number of gender-neutral bathrooms has grown in recent years, but this has not been without controversy.
