Social media users are being called to cut out some of their key platforms as part of a month–long campaign kicking off tomorrow.
The ‘Scroll Free September’ initiative is being spearheaded by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) in the hope it will improve people’s mental health and well-being.
Those taking part in the campaign can still use platforms such as Twitter and Facebook for work purposes but are encouraged not to use them otherwise.
‘Not about quitting for good’
The idea follows similar initiatives aimed at abstaining from other activities, for example ‘Dry January‘, when people avoid drinking alcohol, and ‘Stoptober‘, when smokers try to quit.
As many as 320,000 people in the UK are thought to be planning to take part, according to a public poll by the RSPH.
