Here are the facts:

  • The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the set of 17 agreed goals which all 193 UN member states including the UK committed to that will guide policy and funding for the next 10 years.
  • According to the World Bank, around 1 billion people still live in extreme poverty and more than 800 million people do not have enough food to eat.
  • From 2016, all UN member states committed to mobilise efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
