People make horrible comments because of my skin colour

Dear Agony Aunt,
The school I go to doesn’t have many students who come from different backgrounds, so I kind of stand out because I am a different colour. People call me horrible names and tell me to go back to where I came from – the funny thing is is that I was born here and this is my home! Going to school is unbearable, how can I make these awful jokes and nasty comments stop?

Hello Abed,
I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time at school. These people are being ignorant with the nasty remarks they make about your colour, culture or background. This is racism and it is something serious that needs to be tackled.
Have a quiet word with your teacher to see if they can help you sort out the problem. If this doesn’t work, get your parents to write a letter to the headteacher explaining what is happening. Your headteacher can then record the complaint and let your parents know how the situation is being dealt with ...
