Friendships make us happier people. Friends can support us when life gets tough and celebrate with us when we’ve achieved something. They come in many shapes and sizes; every friend can bring something different and exciting to our lives. Good friends are funny, caring and kind and you probably see them most days at school, clubs or in your neighbourhood.

We also hang out with friends online. A Facebook friend may show love on your photos, or a gaming friend may challenge you to a game on Roblox. But the Internet has changed the definition of a friend – now, friends aren’t necessarily people you know and see ‘in real life’, they can also be people who you only know online. When you’re getting to know someone online, and you can’t always see their facial expressions or hear the sound of their laugh,  it might not be as easy to tell if they’re being genuine.
