We knew that there was strong support for a global ban on cosmetics animal testing – and decisive action to replace it with non-animal alternatives – and now we have the scientific proof. HSI and our #BeCrueltyFree campaign partners commissioned a series of public opinion surveys in some of the world’s key cosmetics markets – Brazil, Canada and South Korea – while The Humane Society of the United States commissioned a U.S. poll. HSI also partnered with LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics and local animal welfare organisations to commission polls in Japan and Taiwan.

 

Here’s what we found

Canada: eight out of ten people support a national cosmetics animal testing ban

  • 88 per cent agreed that animal testing “can cause pain and suffering to animals and it is not worth causing this kind of suffering just to test the safety of cosmetics, especially when there are safe ingredients already available”.
