Stolen Valor Act
In the United States it is a crime for a person to pretend they are a soldier when they are not, with the intention of claiming any kind of benefit (e.g. money, property, etc.). It is also a crime to make false claims about military decorations (e.g. medals). It is legal to wear a military uniform in public, as long as the person doesn’t claim to have done any service.
The UK has a similar law.
