UK shoppers are paying nearly £14 more on average for a Dolce & Gabbana perfume for women than on the male aftershave equivalent, according to the research. Women in the UK are being charged more for big name perfumes than men are for the male aftershave equivalent in the latest example of the so-called Pink Tax in action, research indicates.

Female consumers pay on average 60 pence more per 10ml of fragrance than male shoppers, suggesting the existence of a Pink Tax on perfume, according to data published by a price comparison site.

The term ‘pink tax’ refers to the extra money women are charged for certain products or services above the standard cost for comparable goods aimed at men; often these items are coloured pink to indicate they have been developed for female consumers.
