Two young black women in London found themselves feeling so excluded from mainstream mental health charities that they decided to create one, while dealing with mental health problems of their own.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, black and minority ethnic groups living in the UK are more likely to be diagnosed with mental health problems and more likely to experience a poor outcome from treatment.

Young black people aren’t being engaged

‘Nowadays, diversity seems to be at the top of everyone’s agenda and I think mainstream charities are trying to take this on board, which you can see through their ads and campaigns,’ Vanessa Boachie, founder of Inside Out UK told i.
